The Island Community Center is a place for learning, wellness, and connection. We offer a variety of free programs and collaborate with local organizations to bring classes, workshops, and events to our community.
coffee Connections
Tues, 9-10am
Start your week with warm conversation and fresh-brewed coffee, generously donated by 44 North Coffee. Whether you’re new to the island or have been here for years, Coffee Connections is the perfect place to catch up with neighbors, make new friends, and share stories over a cup of joe.
No agenda, no pressure, just good company and great coffee. Join us when you can, we’d love to see you!
Senior arts & crafts

Join us each week for a casual and creative time with friends. This free event offers a chance to socialize and connect while enjoying craft projects in a supportive, no-pressure environment.
Come unwind, get creative, and enjoy good company. Bring a friend or come make new ones – we’d love to have you!

The Great Down-easter egg hunt
Saturday
before easter
On the Saturday before Easter, join us for The Great Down-Easter Egg Hunt! The Island Community Center will hand out craft bags and area businesses will be handing out treats. Participants will walk through town to the Opera House, who will host the Great Down-Easter Egg Hunt.
This is a free event.
Spooktacular
Saturday
before Halloween
On the Saturday before Halloween, the Island Community Center celebrates the holiday with a costume parade through downtown Deer Isle and Stonington with trick-or-treating at local businesses. The Spooktacular concludes with a Halloween movie at the nearby Stonington Opera House.
This is a free event.
Thanksgiving day dinner drive

A community-wide event, this program serves Thanksgiving dinner to over 100 people each year and brings together many volunteers who spend their holiday preparing and delivering the meals.

small business saturday
Celebrate Small Business Saturday at the Island Community Center. Some of the peninsula’s best vendors, crafters, and organizations sell their work and help to kick off the holiday season. Admission is free and open to the public.

island festival of trees

Come see many beautifully decorated and gifted trees that you could win! Trees can have various items such as: toys, adult prizes, gift cards, or cash. Plus visit with Santa for a great holiday picture and enjoy some yummy food.
Any individual, organization, or business can partake in this event. You can donate a fully decorated artificial tree or provide us with a donation and we will do the rest.

Get ready to dazzle, sparkle, and shine! It’s time to show off your island pride in the most brilliant way possible! We want to see your most creative, eye-popping display. Light up your storefronts, yards, porches, and rooftops — just make sure it’s visible from the road so everyone can admire your masterpiece!
